Don’t cry for me, Italia

Posted by Mark on Saturday, January 19th, 2008. Filed under Living, Travel.

Betty and I made a tough decision last night.

We canceled our plans to visit Italy in April.

Maybe we’re overreacting to the tougher times the economic news portends. Maybe it’s the mountain of expenses still ahead of us for the trip. (We had pre-paid the air, and I don’t want to think of how difficult it’s going to be to use up that amount of credit.) Maybe it’s the onerous U.S. to Euro exchange rate and the relative lack of value our dollars will have had once we arrived in Rome.

We’re relieved, of course. That’s what the decision was all about for us. Disappointed for sure. Committed to make it there some day … but not this year.

  • good decision…italy (while a disaster) isn’t going anywhere…w/ the euro @ 1.45, italy’s charm comes at an inordinately high price…hopefully will see you in a march @ secession
