“We already have three…”
I’m a pretty detailed fellow. At least I think I am, especially when it comes to working out an appointment or, similarly, a golf trip. I try to get the right group together, make sure they have the information they need, insure the golf club is expecting everyone, the caddies, beverages, bets and meals all set up.
It all works better that way. Makes for a better experience for everyone involved.
In fact, I’ve said it before: I try to control what I can to leave me more time and peace of mind for what I can’t control.
Not everyone works like this…and that’s okay. I had planned a group of four for a golf outing Sunday and Monday. It’s been put together for about four weeks. Yesterday one of our group reneged.
“It’s like missing an appointment,” someone said. Well, not quite. I am prepared now for his not coming; so he’s not a “no show.” But believe it or not, it’s short notice for finding someone to replace him.
“It’s only golf,” one might say. Yes, that’s true. But it serves to remind me of a golf joke I sometimes tell when there’s someone with whom I may not want to spend my four hours outdoors.
“Sorry, Charlie,” the story goes, when someone asks if he can join your group. “We already have three…”
What’s your idea?
