John Daly at the Hootie
Not an elegant headline, I know, but neither is its truth an elegant combination.
John Daly, the bloated talent and overall package with a basket of snakes in his brain, is making a personal appearance at this week’s Bulls Bay GC for the Hootie Intercollegiate Golf Invitational. Says Tommy Braswell in Sunday’s Charleston Post & Courier, “The tournament is sponsored by the band Hootie and the Blowfish, who are members [as I am] and avid golfers at Bulls Bay, and Daly and the band members are good buddies.”
Only a rock star - or the devil - could concoct this combination. Daly might be a good fit for many in the membership at Bulls Bay (after all, Bulls Bay is the club where Rick Hall, when asked our cell phone policy, replied “Mandatory”). But his personality, antics and volatility don’t belong as examples for ambitious and talented college players.
