Some of the obits for Kurt Vonnegut were quite good, especially one on PBS’s News Hour, which was followed by a discussion featuring Alan Cheuse and Christopher Buckley. Cheuse was among several who recalled Vonnegut’s own wishes for an epitaph.
“If I should ever die, God forbid,” Vonnegut wrote in A Man Without a Country, “let this be my epitaph: ‘The only proof that he needed for the existence of God is music.’”
