Sweep!

I have seen this before, but I enjoy any victory my Boston Red Sox have over the Evil Empire. For April baseball, this series at Fenway over the weekend had a little of everything, and the series finale attests to this. The Red Sox hit four consecutive home runs to storm into the lead. This was only the 5th time it had taken place in MLB history, and it all happened with two outs. It started with a blast over the Monster from a posing Manny, and it ended when the captain, Jason Varitek, hit a dinger into the Monster seats.

Manny Being Manny

This series always has something. This time, we had Mariano Rivera blowing a save on Friday, Andy Pettitte becoming a reliever, 4 consecutive home runs by the Sox and some late inning heroics by the good guys. Add Dice K to the mix, and the Red Sox vs. Yankees in April reminds us what makes baseball great.

Next weekend, things resume in NY for a three game set, and I will be watching from NY where I will be for a family wedding. Half Boston crowd, half New York crowd - I’ll be sure to give a full report on Monday.

Go Sox!
