Can’t resist passing this along from the May 19 Golfweek about one of my favorite professional golfers, Jose Maria Olazabal:

“Olazabal opened with a 78 at The Players [Championship]. He fought back with rounds of 66-69-67 and tied for third. Of course, Ollie is ‘old school.’ During the 1996 season, when he was sidelined by back problems that caused excruciating pain in his feet, Olazabal didn’t cash any endorsement checks that he received from Titleist. At his first event the following year, Olazabal returned all the checks, telling the Titleist rep that he hadn’t earned them.”
