Skipping The OPEN?

Posted by Neil on Tuesday, July 15th, 2008. Filed under Golf.

Kenny Perry’s decision to skip The OPEN (that’s the British Open for some of you) due to his commitment to the US Bank sponsor for the event taking place the same week seems a bit odd. Kenny’s goal this year was to make the Ryder Cup team as the Ryder Cup is taking place in his home state of Kentucky. After winning this past week, he’s a lock and I think will bring some emotion to the event which hopefully will help the team. This will be, however, the second major Kenny chooses not to play in this year and I am not sure that is a good thing. You can’t win if you’re not there.

I guess you have to hand it to the guy for sticking to his plan, but I wonder if by not playing in the pressure cooker that is a Major how will he hold up come September.

One Response to “Skipping The OPEN?”

  • Hmmmm…holding up in September.

I’ll bet David,Jim,Chad,Brett,Zach,Phil,Chris, and TW played all the majors leading up to the ‘06 matches.

    Maybe we need a reroute?

Just a hot dog at the turn for thought.
