The Western Amateur

My trip to Chicago last week introduced me to some of the ways and people of the Western Golf Association (WGA). It wouldn’t be fair to say I’m now an honorary member or anything, but I do admire the extreme volunteerism the association obtains from its members. And now, thanks to a tip from new friend and (not new) WGA director Bill Kingore, I am also a fan of how they run their #1 amateur event.

Kingore sent me to this post by blogger Ken Vanko. It’s comprehensive, at times hilariously funny and quite descriptive about why the Western Am is a “major.” Enjoy.
