Introducing Ubiquity

Eric Gordon alerted me to a new product coming from Mozilla, the folks who brought us the Firefox browser. What’s great is how rich the browser experience is getting. The new Firefox 3 is a wonderful improvement on Firefox 2, and it’s gotten me to move it ahead of Safari again.

Watch the video (about 7 minutes) to learn more. I’m going to give ‘er a whirl, and I’ll fill in more if there’s more I think you’ll want to know.

  • The thing I really dig about this is it has nothing to do experiencing the web in some new “cool” way—it’s all about content and context. It’s about taking the wealth of informaion thats out there and compiling in a way that makes sense to you.

  • I’ve been using Ubiquity for about two weeks and it has now become part of my habitual work flow. Instead of using the built in search windows in Flock or Safari, I now use Ubiquity for many things. My favorite so far is the ability to grab a map and drop it into an email. Or get a quick definition. Now, if Ubiquity could extend out of the browser and into my OS, so I could access it from any app, I’d be a true believer.
