Anita Roddick

I was sad to learn Anita Roddick died. I didn’t know her but was fortunate enough to see her speak at a conference in San Francisco around 1995. She was ahead of her time. She was one of the first corporate leaders I remember championing the cause of the environment. And she believed in business acting with a conscience, before it was the “in” thing to do. Not because stockholders knew it would help bolster the stock price but because it was right. And she had a set of big balls when it came to building and managing her brand. She went with her gut and took risks. She was very inspiring. I’m sure glad I got the chance to see her speak.
