Work from anywhere

Posted by Mark on Thursday, November 1st, 2007. Filed under Burris, Digital lifestyle, Environment.

I sometimes think I can’t work effectively on larger projects unless I’m sitting at my home office desk, in front of my desktop computer screen, with sharpened pencil and clean pad to the right of the keyboard and all of the moving parts of my being focused on the task at hand.

Not always true, however.

When I travel - as I’m doing today - I have my laptop, my iPhone, and more often than not a wireless signal. This morning I’m in the Business Center at Secession GC, where from just before 6a I’m able to download, read and respond to email, check out the headlines in the online versions of the NY Times and Wall Street Journal, make a couple of calendar changes for next week, and generally move things along.

Even post this blog entry…

The Business Center is a converted guest room upstairs in the clubhouse. There are nine workstations, a wireless printer, good lighting - all the conveniences. And, believe me, it’s a good place to get enough done that you don’t really feel guilty going out a bit later and playing golf on a beautiful Fall day.

Nope, not guilty at all.

  • As I sit by this beach today and will be in the mountains next week all the time working and reading about this crazy industry I could not agree more. Never thought I would have said it but any place you are can be what you make it!
The golf course is in 2 weeks! Isn’t work hard!
