Connect Africa
Fewer than four out of 100 Africans currently use the internet, and broadband penetration is below 1 percent, but by 2012 the goal is to drive dramatic change. The World Bank, the World Health Organization and United Nations, as well as companies like Intel and Microsoft are supporting an initiative called Connect Africa, aimed at getting one third of Africa’s citizens on broadband. Africa now has the highest growth in mobile use globally - twice the global average over the past three years and for the first time, economic indicators for the continent are positive. Positive momentum is building and the world is flat so how does it impact things moving foward, not sure but time will tell. Perhaps Michael Scott’s Majors Tournament Scoring system will come out of rural South Africa next year.
