The original rules of golf

From John Paul Newport’s column this morning:

“The original rules of golf, 13 in all, were committed to paper in 1744 by the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. That document, which still exists in an archive in Scotland, certainly qualifies as a sacred text. It’s the golf equivalent of the Ten Commandments.”

An excellent review of golf’s mythic qualities. I recommend it.
